- I couldn't agree more. What is important is that you understand certain
- programming fundamentals. Know your abstract data types (lists, queues,
- stacks, tables, etc.), know your algorithms, and know how to use these
- features in whatever you are writing. At this point, the particular
- language is not important.

- If you are a good programmer, you should know many languages and you
- should be able to pick up new ones quickly. Currently I am fluent in
- C, C++, Pascal, Tcl/Tk, and Perl. I can also program X Windows/Motif
- applications, write ksh scripts, tinker with Unix, etc.

- So the bottom line is that Norm is right. Don't focus on the language,
- focus on the ideas.
